Our Stewardship focus begins in just a few weeks and we’ll be focusing on what it means to be “all in” with our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness at McFarlin. As a way to live into our emphasis as a missional church, part of that focus will include a new Stewardship service initiative: ALL IN to Serve. This is a powerful and tangible way for us to come together during Stewardship to strengthen our relationships and ministries as we experience the deep joy of meeting the needs of the world together.
There are a variety of opportunities with different focuses, time commitments and areas of need so that you can find the right fit for your schedule. We encourage you to choose ONE OPPORTUNITY to participate in. Invite your friends or family to join you, or pick out an opportunity as a Sunday school or small group. Let’s serve together!
We will serve with the Lazarus Community, a ministry practices social justice through the power of the Holy Spirit by bringing restoration to broken people, places, and systems. Currently, they are preparing to provide housing for homeless individuals.
Our team will help by painting a classroom in the church building that will serve unhoused, prepare a bathroom for remodeling, and build a prototype tiny house. You do not have to commit to a full day to participate and while construction knowledge is certainly helpful, it is not necessary. Transportation will be available to the site in the morning, and lunch will be provided on both Saturdays.
The Oklahoma Blood Institute Blood Mobile will be at McFarlin, Sunday morning, October 24. Give the gift of life by sharing blood with someone in need.
Clean out your closets and bring your no longer used shoes, clothing, and jackets to be sent to Soles4Souls, where they will be sent around the world to make a difference. Bring your clothing to Fenn Hall where we will have boxing stations and you will get to prepare your donations for shipping. We will provide boxes, tape, and postage (If you have boxes you are welcome to bring those). If you are headed to the Family Ministries Pumpkin Carving that takes place 3 – 5pm, come a little early with your donation for Soles4Souls.
