Lent Worship & Events
How Jesus Gives Us Grace—When He Died, Study with Pastor Rockford
Sundays at 9:40am, beginning Feb. 25
Join us for a transformative journey during the Lenten season at our Pastor’s Sunday School class: “How Jesus Gives Us Grace—When He Died.” Delve into the heart of Christianity as we explore who Jesus is and unravel the profound meaning behind “Jesus died for us.” Led by our Senior Pastor, Rockford Johnson, this six-week class will meet in Fenn Hall every Sunday from February 25 to March 24 at 9:40am. This is open to all persons and Sunday School classes are welcome to choose this option as a class.
The central theme revolves around understanding the various perspectives on atonement and, more importantly, growing closer in comprehension of the grace bestowed upon us by Jesus. For those seeking a deeper exploration, an optional resource book is, Pictures of Atonement: A New Testament Study, by Ben Pugh. Everyone is welcome, and together we’ll embark on a spiritual journey to uncover the profound significance of Jesus’ sacrifice. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with your faith community and enrich your understanding of the grace of Jesus. (For the very curious, see also Ben Pugh’s book, Atonement Theories: A Way through the Maze.)

Classes will meet at the church on Wednesdays, February 28, March 6, and March 13, 6-8pm. Please email Elizabeth Johnson at email@example.com to enroll.

March 29 @ 7:30pm
Witness a profound Good Friday Worship Service on March 29th at 7:30 pm in our Sanctuary. Immerse yourself in J.S. Bach’s “The Passion According to St. John,” portraying the poignant narrative of Christ’s betrayal and crucifixion through music. Pastor Rockford Johnson’s reflections will illuminate the story with profound insights. Tied to the Lenten sermon series “Give Me Jesus When,” we explore the crowd’s alternative cry for Barabbas over Jesus. Good Friday, known as Holy Friday globally, signifies God’s unwavering love and redemption, even in the face of human rejection and cruelty, revealed through the cross of Jesus Christ.
