Poetics of Faith Class
Sept. 7–28 | 4-Week Sunday School Class in Room 320
Dive deep into the poetic language of Scripture with this four-week class exploring how biblical poets and prophets describe the indescribable: God, prayer, heaven, and suffering. Led by Pastor Rockford, this study draws from the Psalms, prophetic writings, and New Testament texts to reflect on how poetry helps us speak to and about the Holy.
On the final Sunday, September 28, we will be joined by Dr. Benjamin Myers, former Poet Laureate of Oklahoma and professor at Oklahoma Baptist University. Dr. Myers will co-teach the class and offer a poetic reading during Sanctuary Worship that morning. His recent book, Black Sunday, was named one of the “Five Best Stories of the Dust Bowl” by The Wall Street Journal (June 28, 2025).
