Norman First American UMC Gala

October 14 at McFarlin | Begins 5:30pm

Reclaiming Our Voices … Telling Our Stories: Indigenous People’s Day Dinner & Fundraiser

Join us on Monday, October 14, at McFarlin Memorial UMC, 419 S. University Blvd., Norman, OK, for a momentous event celebrating Indigenous People’s Day and supporting the completion of the Norman First American UMC’s church and educational facilities. McFarlin UMC, honoring its 100-year legacy of sharing the love of Jesus Christ, is thrilled to partner with Norman First American UMC (NFA) in this capital campaign fundraiser. NFA, a vibrant Native American congregation, serves over 5,000 Native peoples annually and is the spiritual home for Native students at the University of Oklahoma.

This fundraiser is not just about building structures but about expanding the reach of culturally grounded, Spirit-led ministry that has been a cornerstone for NFA. The event will feature an indigenous dinner, a silent auction, a live painting auction by renowned Chickasaw and Ponca artist Brent Greenwood, and a thought-provoking panel discussion. The panel, including Rev. Margaret Johnson, Superintendent of the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, will explore the intersection of Native spirituality and Christianity, highlighting the possibilities of culturally grounded ministry within the United Methodist Church.

This is a unique opportunity to support the growth of a vital ministry while celebrating the rich traditions and stories of Native peoples. Your presence and participation will help build a future where these traditions continue to thrive for generations to come. Don’t miss this chance to be part of something historic and transformative!
